At Up With Books, we believe every child deserves the chance to discover the magic of a good story. With our Every Summer Has a Story reading program, we are gearing up to put books into the hands of kids who need them most - but we can't do it alone. We need your help to make this summer unforgettable!

How You Can Make a Difference:

📚 Donate Books – We welcome contributions from publishers, distributors, and authors! If you have new or like-new books suitable for children and teens, your donation can make a lasting impact.
📦 Host a Book Drive – Schools, businesses, and community groups can organize book drives to collect books for children in underserved communities. It’s a simple, fun way to make a big difference!
💰 Make a Monetary Donation – Every dollar helps us purchase books and expand our reach. Your generous donation allows us to put more books in the hands of eager young readers.
📢 Spread the Word – Share our mission with your network! Follow us on social media and encourage others to support literacy.

Why It Matters
Last summer, we delivered over 21,000 books to kids across Massachusetts giving them access to engaging, age-appropriate books to build lifelong literacy skills. But it’s more than just books—it’s about opening doors. For many of these children, owning a book of their own is a rare gift, one that sparks curiosity, builds confidence, and offers an escape into worlds they might never otherwise explore. Research shows that access to books during the summer can prevent the "summer slide," where kids lose critical reading skills without practice. For underserved communities, this gap can widen over time, making it harder to keep up in school and beyond. By supporting Up With Books, you’re not just giving a book—you’re giving a child a chance to dream bigger, learn more, and see themselves as part of a larger story.

Every Summer Has a Story
Our Every Summer Has a Story reading program provides economically disadvantaged children with a backpack filled with books. This allows them to keep reading through the summer months to retain, and enhance, valuable reading skills.
Every $25 raised provides a child with quality books to read throughout the summer months.
